Services

  • Minor injuries are treated
  • Injuries are documented
  • Forensic evidence is collected
  • Risks are identified

We know that concerns about sexually transmitted infections such as HIV are real for survivors. We offer an individualized risk assessment to help you chose the prophylactic treatment that is right for you.

The possibility of a pregnancy after an assault is terrifying. We offer emergency birth control and testing to give you the peace of mind you need.

SANEs are able to testify in court and assist legal council, and juries, to understand the role trauma plays in a survivor's response. We also explain when there is a lack of physical or toxicology evidence based on the science behind the evidence.

The forensic medical exam is a detailed physical assessment aimed at identifying possible injuries for treatment. Your health and wellbeing are our main concern. You are in control of every portion of the exam.

Sexual assault nurse examiners meet the complex healthcare

and forensic needs of survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human

trafficking.

At MDSARI we are eager to expand services so that every survivor can receive the hands-on support they need to begin to heal and recover.

Nurses are the most trusted professionals for a reason; we step in when others "cannot" do the work which we devotedly undertake. MDSARI is led by highly experienced nurses with

extensive clinical expertise in a variety of settings ranging from emergency

care to high risk obstetrics and gynecology, women's health, and community health nursing.

As nurse advocates, we are fully devoted to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our patients and our community at large.

The holistic perspective nurse leaders bring captures barriers such as

complex trauma and social determinants of health (SDoH). At MDSARI we account for

the compounding effects of these barriers on already vulnerable populations.

Our services are provided by nurses who have served the community, in the

language of preference of each person we serve. Our team is as diverse as the

population we serve, which enhances our ability to understand the cultural and

regional barriers survivors face.

Our partnerships with law enforcement, local hospital systems, fire

departments, and the state attorney's office ensure no survivor falls through

the ever-widening cracks in the systems survivors access.

While the needs are great, our goals at MDSARI are rooted in our oath to protect, advocate for, and serve "the least of them" as vulnerable populations are often referred to.

We find that our particular set of skills are optimally suited for bridging gaps

that have previously led to the majority of survivors not receiving the care and justice

they deserve.
